Adoption Process Counseling
Adoption Counseling
Support and guidance for anyone considering, entering, or living through the adoption process.
Adoption CAN be a positive experience. Think of the reasons you first considered adoption and think of giving your child — and yourself — the gift of the life you desired. Your desires for you and your baby are the only priority.
Alexia will walk you through the adoption process, help you plan, and assess resources and referrals based on your individual needs. Whatever decision you make, she will make sure you have the right information, resources, and support to feel confident in your next step.
Helpful to have before your first session
- A short note on where you are in the process (just considering, matched, waiting, post-placement).
- Any questions or worries you'd like to work through — no need to organize them.
- Names and contact info for any professionals already involved (agency, attorney, social worker).
- A partner or support person you'd like included, if that feels right.

Common questions
- Do I have to be certain about adopting to start counseling?
- No. Many people come in still weighing their options — that's exactly what counseling is for.
- Do you work with individuals or couples?
- Both. Sessions can be individual, with a partner, or include other members of your support system.
